Description

This issue is Volume 1, Number 2, Spring 1956, the second issue!

The front cover has a great shot of Tim Considine and David Stollery in costume as Spin and Marty, no doubt somewhere on the trail out on the old Triple R Ranch.

Here's a list of the great articles and photos inside:

  • A note from Annette Funicello, with a photo of her and her dog Candy
  • Dick Huemer writes on the earliest cave man attempts at animation
  • A two-page spread with photos illustrating the earlier life and career of Jimmie Doddprior to the Mouse Club
  • "The Boy Fireman of the Great Locomotive Chase," an interesting article and photos of Doug Bleckley, a young native of Clayton, Georgia, who got a small part in the Civil War Disney film, "The Great Locomotive Chase," starring Fess Parker andJeffrey Hunter.
  • Joel Chandler Harris, a two-page article and photo spread about the author of "Song of the South." This article was based on a Disneyland TV series episode about young Joel Chandler Harris. There's a few photos of David Stollery playing the role, as well as photos of Oscar winner James Baskette as Uncle Remus, as well as Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear and the Tar Baby.
  • A Day in the Life of Donald Duck, with photos of Donald with Walt, Jimmie Dodd, and Clarence "Ducky" Nash, Donald's voice. Another Disneyland TV series episode inspired this article, and the color photos appear to be stills from the episode.
  • A nine-page spread with photos featuring the story of "Corky and White Shadow,"the serial starring Darlene Gillespie and Buddy Ebsen.
  • Davy Crocket's Almanac, a story with Mike Fink.
  • A two-page photo spread, "A Trip through Adventureland," with vintage photos of a very early Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland
  • An article, "Secrets of the Honey Makers," about bees, written by James Algar,writer-director of the True-Life Adventure films, with color photos from the film,"Secrets of Life."
  • A "society-type" page showing the Mouseketeers at parties, including Annette, Mary Sartori, Karen and Cubby, and Billie Jean Beanblossom, among others.
  • An article about the making of Spin and Marty with profiles of the two main lead
The magazine is in nice shape and only has minor creases as noted in the photos.I request that payment be made within three days of the end of the auction. Paypal only and shipping to the lower 48 states only. NThanks for looking!
