Description

Mike Wallace (Wally) Wood was the greatest comic book artist of all time.  A premiere founding artist of Mad Magazine, an EC Comics mainstay, creator of the THUNDER Agents, etc. etc., taken from us much too soon.  This is from the January 1961 issue of Mad.  It is the prelim sheet for the opening of the article and the two Romeo and Juliet pages.  Sorry about the relatively poor scan of the relevant part of the magazine, but it was the best I could find.

It is about 9" by 12" on thin vellum or vellum-like paper, a bit puckered and wrinkly in places as you can see.  It is almost as yellow as you see. natural, not the result of discoloration

I bought this from the personal representative of Wood's estate.  This was presumably a survivor of the fire that destroyed most of his art.  This piece shows no sign of fire damage.

Unless stated otherwise, every piece I sell is the original done by hand.
