Hi! You are looking at original pencil art drawn by X-Men and Image legend Whilce Portacio. This page was drawn by Portacio in early 1986 (a few months before the release of Uncanny X-Men #207, which featured pencils by John Romita, Jr.) as he came off his first major gigs at Marvel, inking the Longshot mini-series of Art Adams and inking Uncanny X-Men #201 over Rick Leonardi's pencils. Whilce was looking to get more penciling work by sending these pages around to editors at Marvel, and by the looks of it, these try-out pages sure helped, with the rest becoming modern comic book (and X-Men) history. The corresponding published page by John Romita, Jr., is shown above for comparison's sake - what if a young Portacio worked his way onto Uncanny X-Men full-time five years before his actual debut?
