Description
This auction is for the complete series of The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh from K.K. Publications (Gold Key/Western) from 1964 - 1965. This series was based on Walt Disney's presentation of The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh presented as part of the anthology series that aired on Sunday nights. Disney was famous for serializing episodes of characters from literature and history without assigning them their own television series. The most famous of all of these was Davy Crockett starring Fess Parker who parlayed that role into a long running television show with him starring as Daniel Boone. One of the most memorable serializations was the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, starring Patrick McGoohan as Doctor Syn, who had been starring in the British spy series "Danger Man' (Secret Agent" in the US) and would later reprise (somewhat) the role in the enigmatic "The Prisoner". Doctor Syn was the erudite vicar of the small village of Dymchurch-under-the-wall. He also was the leader of a band of smugglers who dressed up in Scarecrow outfits and foiled the King's men from collecting unfair taxes on imported goods for his parishioners. The three episode series was well received and was cut down as a theatrical presentation several years later. It has been released by Disney on a very limited basis and is highly prized in the DVD version.
These three books grade Good to Very Good plus. No. 1 is Good plus with cover pulling away from top staple. No. 2 has moisture damage and would grade as Good. No. 3 is the best and with only a few spine dings and tears would grade Very Good plus. Take a look at the large scans for your determination of grade. These books are highly desirable and usually command a premium over guide. I have sold multiple sets over the last few years, some two to three times guide. This is a chance to acquire the complete series in nice collectible condition for a super price. Don't let these get away.
I have been selling on ebay for over fifteen years and have always maintained 100% feedback. The book depicted in the scan is the one you will receive. I will ship either first class or media whichever is cheaper. Other shipping can be arranged but buyer will have to pay the difference. Foreign orders are OK with sufficient positive feedback. Postage for foreign orders will be higher and may not be reflected in the automatic billing by ebay, so please do not pay until you receive invoice created by me. Returns are accepted only if there was a defect not listed in the description. No returns accepted because of buyer's remorse so please bid accordingly. I will combine shipping but there will be a minimum fifty cents per additional auction up to a total of ten auctions. All books will be packaged safely and securely. Packages will be shipped within twenty-four hours after receiving payment. Check out my other auctions for other great books.
