Wow, what an incredible piece this is!!! Superman 50th Birthday proof medallion dated Feb. 29th, 1988. It is 12 oz. or ONE POUND of .999 silver!!! Measures in at 90 millimeters, or approx. 3-1/2" in diameter. Made in the US by AMC, which is American Medallion Corporation. It was limited to 2500 numbered pieces and enclosed in a custom Cherrywood case. This one is number 30 - a very low number that is so desirable! It is numbered on the edge. I have found precious little about this piece, I'm sure most of them were melted down in the heyday when silver prices were so high. I did find that the original price on this price when issued was $195-. AMC also issued 1 oz. medallions for $18.95 and 2 oz. pieces for $34.95 in this series. Currently, the one oz. are selling for 50-60 each, if you can even find them. This size is extremely rare! A very impressive piece!!!!! Well wrapped for secure delivery.
