Description

Less than a year after Fantastic Four #1 was released, Marvel Comics produced their first spin-off feature, as the Human Torch took over the lead (and cover) of anthology book Strange Tales with issue #101 (cover dated October 1962, the same month Fantastic Four #7 was released). This is among the most under-rated Silver Age keys, and the beginning of a series of Human Torch stories (often joined by The Thing) that ran for the next 33 issues.

Written by Stan Lee and artfully rendered by Jack Kirby in his early style, it recaps the origin of the Fantastic Four, and sends Johnny Storm on his first solo adventure (vs. The Destroyer!). Also included is a Steve Ditko illustrated sci-fi classic -"What is X-35?"

The offered example has been graded 6.0 Fine (R - Slight) by CGC and given a purple label for the most minor of offenses - one small, professional color touch. The book is otherwise very nice, with a solid spine and crisp off-white to white pages.

It's guide value in this condition per the Overstreet Price Guide is $370.00 US - No Reserve!

All comics will be shipped well packed, with tracking. Watch for more CGC graded Gold & Silver Age keys and rarities in the coming weeks!
