More Fun Comics #73 (DC, 1941) CGC VF 8.0 White pages. The origin and first appearance of Aquaman has made this issue one hot book! How hot? According to Overstreet, its NM- value rose 43% from 2015 to 2016, the highest percentage increase of any book on its Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, where it jumped from #33 to #26 in one year. Aquaman's recent appearance in Superman v. Batman: Dawn of Justice and an upcoming solo film in 2018 has revitalized the character. But that's not even the only major first appearance: Green Arrow also debuts in this issue. Do we need to mention that the TV show Arrow is now in its fifth season? This issue also has the first appearance of Speedy, a Dr. Fate cover by Howard Sherman, and interior art by Sherman, Bernard Baily, and George Papp. Like many of this classic title's issues, this one's hard enough to find in any grade (it's a Gerber "7"), much less in any grade above FN 6.0 (CGC has certified just 10 nicer than 6.0 to date). The last time we offe red a non-restored copy nicer than 4.5 was over five years ago! Just two books have been certified in higher grade by CGC ever. Overstreet 2016 VF 8.0 value = $50,000. CGC census 11/16: 4 in 8.0, 2 higher. From the Columbus Collection.
