With Certified Herb Trimpe Autograph and
Wolverine sketch
Regular bidders of my comic art auctions know that for the last 10 or so years I also handled commissions and art sales for Herb Trimpe. (You can google Herb Trimpe and Jeff Jaworski) I also sell his art on ebay from Herb's ebay account, user id cloudessence.
Before Herb passed away he signed some of his classic issues and added small sketches to the covers. We had the books graded by CGC for their Signature Series label. The plan was that Herb was going to offer them for sale to fans at the cons, giving people a chance to get something fast that had already been graded. Unfortunately we only had the chance to put some out for one day at the recent East Coast Comic Con, and Herb passed away immediately after that show.
I am now going to offer the books here. Please note that proceeds from this auction will go to Herb's widow Patricia, so please bid accordingly!
This book is professionally graded a 8.0 by CGC, and features a sketch of The Wolverine as he appeared when Herb drew his first appearance in Hulk #181 (Or the last panel of Hulk #180 for you sticklers.).The CGC Census report shows that only 4 copies of this issue have been graded with the Signature Series label. Unfortunately the census does not say if it is Herb's signature on the other books or someone else's and also doesn't say if the others have a sketch on them. (Herb would charge extra for the sketches.) However this is the highest graded of the 4 issues that received the Signature Series label!
