Description

Early Chester Gould Original Signed Sketch of Dick Tracy, 1940s

* Gould's dedication and note are to my father, Robert Lanphier, misspelled "Lamphier."
* Newsprint relates my dad's letter to Gould regarding an episode of "The Brow."
* Back of art has unrelated newsclips involving my dad.
* Sketch and dedication are printed on stationary from Chicago Tribune / New York News Syndicate.
* Date of correspondents is pre 1950s and probably mid 1940s.
* Actual art is 8.5" x 10.5." Top 1/2" appears to have been cut off.
* This item is entirely original. 300dpi images are available. Please compare signature and sketch to others from Gould.

* Please see my feedback, on a wide variety of triple-digit items, for accuracy, clear communication, secure packing and fast turnaround.
* Thanks for your interest! Any and all questions welcomed.

On Apr-07-18 at 11:40:12 PDT, seller added the following information:

The item was originally folded in three places, the two folds at the bottom being 3.5" apart.

* Midway through the hat
* Through the chin; there's a 1/4" tear on the right edge of this fold.
* Just below the text "I guess..."

All folds are visible in the enlarged images.
