Item up for bid is a stunning rarity that comes directly from a legend of Mad Magazine. This painting is an oil on canvas self portrait of Bob Clarke (1926 - 2013) who became famous an author and illustrator for MAD Magazine working on over 600 different pieces before his retirement. Along with his MAD work he was also known for designing the Cutty Sark label, the original box work for the legendary board game Candyland and Ripley's Believe It or Not comic strip and during his military service he contributed to Stars & Stripes.

This painting comes fresh to the market from Mr. Clarke's estate where it was created and stored for years. No rips, tears or holes in the canvas that we can see anywhere and considering how young he appears in the work we believe this was done early in his career.  Lower 1/4 of the painting shows some discoloration on the back of the canvas. Painting was signed by Mr. Clarke in the lower right corner and the painting is housed in a crudely cut and assembled wooden frame which we very strongly believe to have also been the work of Mr. Clarke. Painting itself measures roughly 16-1/8" x 11-7/8" while the entire framed display measures roughly 17-5/8" x 13-4/8".

We are pleased to offer a 14 day, no questions asked return policy. If you don't like an item for any reason just contact us a.s.a.p. and just mail it back to us and you get a full refund of your purchase price. It's as simple as that.

We know full well the value of every cent so any item over $50 will be shipped insured to provide you with the greatest protection and leave you with no risk.

Due to the rising cost of shipping supplies we have been forced to follow many other professional sellers in charging a handling fee. Fee is estimated based upon costs of previous items we have shipped that are in the size and shape range of this item with consideration given to how fragile the item will be to ship.

Payment in full is expected within 7 days of the end of a listing. Items not paid for will result in the item being relisted and being blocked from future  bidding or buying.

Sometimes smells miss our noses and we are unaware of their presence. For this reason, we can not guarantee items to be free from various smells, however if we notice anything we are sure to put it in the listing.

We accept Paypal along with various other forms. Please note that items paid for by personal or business checks will require a mandatory waiting period of 7 business days prior to the item being shipped.

We welcome bidders and buyers from all over the world but we cannot and will not lie on customs forms as this leaves all parties involved open to legal trouble.
