Lovely mid grade issue, with medium cover gloss, cream pages and shiny staples. Please note the cover is almost completely detached at the bottom staple, it's only just hanging on. Please also note there's a hard-to-see spot stain on the front cover on Batman's right shoulder.
The photos below show the actual comic the winning bidder will receive. Click on the thumbnails for high-res close-ups, of both the front and back cover.
There's no writing on, or missing pieces from the interior pages of the comic. There's no tape. The comic has been carefully studied and accurately graded. There are no hidden surprises...
And if you like this, check out my other auctions! I have a complete Neal Adams collection up for auction right now, including all of his interior artwork for both Marvel and DC, as well as all of his cover artwork on Batman, Detective Comics, Adventure Comics and House of Mystery. That's right, it includes Batman 222 (which you're looking at right now...), 227, 232, 234, 237, 243, 244, 245 and 251! And Green Lantern 76. And Detective 400, plus a whole lot more - it's a long list...
Enjoy!
Overstreet Grade Description
“Very Good Plus (4.5) – Fits the criteria for Very Good but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book’s appearance by a perceptible amount.
“Very Good (4.0) – The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc, have no effect on this grade. Some discolouration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4” triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8” square is also acceptable. Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies. Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1” spine split. Staples may be discoloured. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centrefold may be loose or detached at one staple.”
About Us
I've been buying and selling comics for over 30 years.
All of the auctions I'm listing are from my personal collection. They're either comics I've upgraded, or doubles, or issues that I purchased as part of a larger lot that I don't collect myself. They've all been stored in bags and boards in a cool, dry, smoke-free room away from sunlight.
Every single comic that I'm listing has been carefully checked and graded. To do that I've inspected each and every page, as well as the front and back cover, paying special attention to the staples, checking for cover gloss front and back, holding them up to the light to catch any hard to find creases, bends and other hard-to-spot flaws. When I assign a grade to a comic, I'm doing my absolute best to be accurate. The Overstreet description of the assigned grade is included above in the description, so you can be sure of what to expect. I constantly refer to the 3rd edition of the Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide - and if you're not familiar with it I highly recommend it. Especially when it comes to older comics it's a real eye-opener
Payment
If you're planning to bid on multiple auctions, I'm happy to wait until you've finished bidding to ship your comics. All I ask is that you let me know, and that you settle up at the end of each week.
And if you'd like to use an alternative method of payment to Paypal please contact me before bidding.
Shipping and Insurance
Please check the shipping tab for the cost of shipping this one comic to your location. If there's no price listed please drop me a line and I'll get back to you with a quote.
Given that I'm listing single issues for auction, I am prepared to offer shipping via Canada Post Lettermail for orders weighing no more than 500g and which total less than $50. However, please be aware that comics shipped by this method do not come with either tracking or insurance.
With regular size comics, I can usually fit up to 4 into a Lettermail shipment. With heavier comics, such as Giant-Size Marvels, or double size issues, I may only be able to fit 2 into a Lettermail shipment. It all depends on the weight.
All comics sent via Canada Post lettermail will be shipped in stiff custom-made cardboard envelopes. They are sturdy, but given that there is no tracking or insurance for orders sent via Canada Post Lettermail, I would suggest paying the extra cost to have your order shipped in a box if you're concerned about Canada Post, or any other international postal service mis-handling your shipment.
As a rough guideline I can ship a regular size single issue anywhere within Canada for $4.95, to most locations in the USA for $6.95, and to most international locations for $11.95. The package has to weigh less than 200g!
I can ship up to 4 comics within Canada for $6.95, to most US states for $11.95, and to most international destinations for $21.95. The weight restriction is 500g.
Within Canada, orders weighing more than 500g, or totalling more than $50, will be shipped via Canada Post regular parcel. Rates start at $14.95, and include insurance.
To the USA, orders weighing more than 500g, or totalling more than $50, will be shipped via Canada Post airmail. Rates start at $17.95, and include insurance.
To the rest of the world, orders weighing more than 500g, or totalling more than $50, will be shipped via Canada Post international surface mail. Rates start at $19.95, and include insurance.
Please note that any orders weighing more than 500g can now be exceptionally expensive to ship overseas. My apologies, but the rates are set by Canada Post - please don't leave me negative rating on ebay because their rates are so expensive!
Shipping via other Canada Post services, like airmail, is also available, but is significantly more expensive. Please ask if you'd like me to provide you with a quote.
If you win more than one auction please wait for me to send you an invoice before sending payment.
And if you live outside North America, please contact me before bidding to confirm the above rates.
