Description

DESCRIPTION: This is an old Buster Brown Drawing Book advertising premium that was probably given away at stores that sold Buster Brown shoes and socks or stockings in the early 1900s. It is marked “Copyright 1903 By Burr McIntosh” on many pages. It is also marked (print-signed) “R.F. Outcault”, a famous early cartoonist, on most pages. Most pages show various cartoons with Buster Brown and his dog Tige, with the Yellow Kid, and some not currently politically correct ethnic figures, as well. I suppose what you did with this book is trace with a pencil onto the see through papers that are between most of the pages.

MATERIALS: Paper

DIMENSIONS: Measures about 6 x 4-7/8 inches. It has 16 printed pages counting the inside of both covers. There are 8 blank tracing paper pages. So, counting all pages blank and printed, there are 24 pages.

CONDITION: Overall in FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION for a 112 year old child’s comic drawing book. It has bends, stains, darkening with age, corner and edge wear, some scribbles, and the binding is weak, so it has to be handled carefully. The printed comic pages are all there, but some of the see through tracing pages are missing. The blank tracing pages are not all there, as some spots have 2 pages between while others have only one, and one has almost half of a page torn off. I hope this makes sense.

Here is a rare child’s drawing comic book from the early 1900s to add to to your Buster Brown, print advertising, comic book, ephemera, or black memorabilia collection. How many of these could still be in existence?!?!

FYI: Our pictures are taken under bright incandescent camera lighting or using a flash that sometimes fades out the colors or makes them appear brighter. This also helps to show all distinguishing features and possible flaws on the item. Most of our antiques and collectibles have much darker, deeper, richer colors than appear in some of our photos, especially reds that tend to turn orange in appearance. Most of the items are photographed on a solid black or bright white background. If you have a question about the color of this item, please feel free to ask questions, because from my monitor to your monitor, the colors may appear different. So, you might think you are bidding on a rare color, when it might be a common color.

If you win more than one item that ends this week, I will combine the items for shipment and charge shipping according to weight. I will send a revised invoice with correct shipping charges shortly after the end of all my auctions. If you should decide that you wish the items to still be shipped separately, please notify us upon the end of the auction, so we will not revise the invoice.
